Study in Ireland
Ireland is a small island nation off the coast of Europe. The island is the continent's second biggest (after Great Britain). The Republic of Ireland takes approximately 80 percent of this area, but the United Kingdom controls a major portion of the north. Ireland is famed for its vast swaths of beautiful, green countryside. In fact, the Emerald Isle is its moniker. However, there are huge regions of difficult, rocky terrain. 15,000 years ago, enormous glaciers completely submerged Ireland. The earth was taken away by the passage of these massive sheets of ice, creating vast expanses of flat, limestone pavement. Ireland is a storyteller's paradise. The custom may be traced back to Celtic bards who used to preserve and recount the country's history. Ireland has produced a number of well-known writers, including five Nobel Laureates in Literature. The Irish place a high value on nature and rural life. Even the country's early coins featured animals. Because of Ireland's low levels of development and pollution, most of the country's open areas have remained largely untouched.
