Study in Singapore

Off the southern point of the Malay Peninsula, Singapore is a sunny, tropical island in Southeast Asia. Five million people live in the city-state, which covers 710 square kilometers and is home to four major ethnic groups: Chinese (majority), Malay, Indian, and Eurasian. The country has followed a parliamentary democracy system since gaining independence on August 9, 1965. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong now leads the government and cabinet, while President Halimah Yacob is the Head of State. Singapore is a prosperous metropolis with world-class infrastructure, a fully integrated island-wide transit network, a dynamic business environment, lively living spaces, and a diverse culture heavily influenced by the four primary communities in Singapore, each presenting a different viewpoint on life in Singapore in terms of culture, religion, food, language, and Hispanic culture.

Singapore has a forward-thinking educational system with cutting-edge facilities. The quality of education is good at all levels, beginning with the basic school. Singapore's five independent universities are well-regarded internationally, while the Council for Private Education (CPE) regulates all other private schools of higher education (PEIs). Singapore being closer to India lowers the costs of living in this country when compared to big countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, or Australia. Planning the expenses wisely can balance the cost of living and education. Singapore is Asia's greenest city, with its green cover rising from 36% in the 1980s to 47% in 2016. It is also called a “fine city” for its cleanliness.

Singapore offers a number of scholarship programs for students to help financially. The Singapore government introduced the Tuition Grant Scheme for all foreign (non-Singaporean) students as a method to make tuition more affordable. On the Global Employability University Ranking 2015, the National University of Singapore (NUS) ranks 17th, while Nanyang Technological University ranks 117th, indicating that degrees from well-known Singapore institutes are acknowledged globally by employers.

The cost of education in Singapore depends on the course of choice, university or college, location and type of accommodation, etc. In Singapore, the typical annual tuition price for all levels of education is around S$20,000. As an international student, this means you should budget around S$800 per month to cover your living expenses in Singapore. Accommodation costs around $400 - $800, transportation around $50 - $80, food around $300 - $450, Mobile and internet around $30 - $50, and other personal expenses around $100 - $300 per month. There are also student hostels available.
